Less than four weeks to go!

So time for an overdue wedding update! The wedding preparations continue to gather speed. Time seems to be moving too fast. Less than four weeks to go, our spirits are high and bank balances low! This Saturday we paid for the wedding rings (ouch!). Not wishing to give too much away, but they look stunning and we're both pretty pleased. Big thanks to all the people at 'Michael Frank Jewellers' in Wickford, for working so hard to get them finished. The rings will now be engraved (with our names) and prepared for the big day. Sarah enjoyed the first of two hen nights this weekend with her cousins (greedy or what). A great night was had in London's 'Leicester Square'. Normal drunken antics took place, with cousin Jenny suffering the biggest hangover (too much Sambuca!). Expect more drunken behaviour next week, when the Stags (and Hens) descend on London!

Suited and booted!

So the wedding suits have been selected and another stress alleviated. We took a short local visit to ' Savoy Taylors Guild ' and they were very helpful. We now have five very nice suits coming our way. Seriously, we must have seen every combination of cravat, waistcoat and jacket going! The suits are a traditional look, with purple 'Tollo' cravats to match the bridesmaid (although it looks blue in the picture). The groom will be wearing an 'Ivory' cravat to match his bride. The suit is a classic black affair with a white buttoned waistcoat. Impressively they issue individual booking codes to the groom and groomsmen. This means everyone in the party can get measured in their own time at any store! This will save plenty of time and hassle. They even dry clean it afterwards, result! * Bit of news on the vicar front. We will now be married by 'Reverend Tim Barnes' at St Mary's Church in Bocking. Unfortunately 'Reverend Phillip Need' was u

Its on...the invites are out!

The invites are out and hopefully you have yours! It's a pleasure to invite our close friends and family to share our big day. Please return the RSVP slips when you can. Auntie Maria has already set the bar quite high and returned hers! Around the meal, its really important you let us know of any special dietary requirements or allergies etc etc. We know theres vegetarians in the family and we'll try to cater for everyone the best we can. At the back of the invites, we included a section around accommodation. Unfortunately the venue has limited rooms and we've had to allocate them best we could. Plenty of nearby hotels and you'll get a decent price if you book now. We can't wait for our guests to share our special day. We hope your looking forward to it as much as us...........but we highly doubt that! Please take a look around our website and we'll keep you posted with all the wedding developments! All the best. Love Sarah & Lee

Booking The Wedding Car

Interesting weekend and another box ticked for the wedding preparations. It was a short trip to Cressing to check out some wedding cars. A nice fella called Ian Nixon showed us his vast array of classic motors. Quite a collection! We were spoilt for choice, but eventually decided on a vintage 'Rolls Royce' (see picture). The car has loads of history and once belonged to a very posh lady who lived on Sloane Square. It then spent some time in America and will now chauffeur the next Mr & Mrs Pethers! Very comfortable seats and we can't wait to sip some champagne in the back. Come the big day, we'll take the long route back to Fennes to enjoy the car a bit longer. It should look fantastic in the pictures too.

Meeting The Reverend

So this weekend we met 'Reverend Phillip Need' to see if we can marry at St Mary's Church. Quite a big deal, he's the decision maker here! The meeting went well and he seemed quite a pleasant bloke. Provisional booking is confirmed and our service will be at 1:30pm. As expected, we need to start showing our face at church on Sundays. This isn't too bad and he said once a month would be sufficient. Absolutely no problem with this arrangement. We both went to church when we were younger, it's no big deal. We will need to fine tune the details of our service at some point, hymns, readings, organist etc etc. We also need to get in touch with our local church in 'Black Notley' so our bands can be read. This is a traditional church procedure where our pending marriage is announced at the church, in case there any local objection. Bit like planning permission!

Picking the wedding breakfast

So this weekend our a 'wedding pack' arrived from Fennes. The next big decision is picking the food selection for some 87 guests. This isn't a simple task. We have multiple choices and categories for starters, mains and dessert. We are proud carnivores so the vegetarians will have to put up with our meat selections and eat their greens. Chicken Caesar salad looks like a good choice of starter and with a roast turkey main course. The problem will be dessert. Who knows what to pick here? Cheesecake? Profiteroles?
